1. 11 Another Bad Idea (USA 313) vs Arethusa (USA 385) Sailing the first downwind of race 11, race 4 of the day, we USA 313 were on starboard and on a collision course with USA 385 on port. We were 15 boat lengths to windward of the gate mark. We hailed starboard and no effort to avoid by the port tack boat (385) was made. As we got closer USA 313 was aligned bow to bow with the port boat where the forward sailor was trimming the kite. I had no intention of gybing, but was forced to gybe onto port to avoid contact when we neared less than half of a boat length of separation. 385 made an attempt to gybe, but only after I had begun my gybe to avoid the collision. 04:25AM Closed 385 accepts 20% penalty
